William Harry Keener, 89, of Old Mill Lane, Clayton, GA died Friday May 17, 2013 at his residence. Born in Rabun County, June 2, 1923 he was the son of the late William Marcus Keener and Martha Hopkins Keener.
He was the widower of Elise Holt Keener
Harry was an employee of the textile industry for many years but was also a cook. He could cook hamburgers better than anybody. His burgers were known as “Harry Burgers.” He was a member of the Clayton First United Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Rosco Keener and by a sister Cora Keener Underwood, and is survived by two daughters; Judy Keener Carpenter and Gayle Keener Smith, both of Clayton. Three grandchildren Jody Kilby, Sharon Adams and John Carpenter, seven great grandchildren and several nieces and cousins also survive.
Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Monday May 20, 2012 at the Chapel of Hunter Funeral Home with Rev. Jan Devereaux and Layman Lloyd Hunter officiating. Burial will be in Rabun Memory Park.
The body is at Hunter Funeral Home where family will receive friends Sunday, May 19, 2013 from 6 to 9 PM. The family is at the home on Old Mill Lane, Clayton.
