Wendell Shirley

Wendell Howard Shirley, 75, of Wiley, Georgia., died Friday November 25, 2016., at his home.

Born in Rabun County July 21 1941 he was the son of the Late M.J. Shirley and Rose Holcomb Shirley. He was the husband of Faye Lovell Shirley. Wendell was retired from Rabun Mills and Burlington in the textile industry, and was a member of the Lakemont Baptist Church.

Wendell was preceded in death, besides his parents, an infant daughter, Cynthia Dawn Shirley, two brothers, Dudley Shirley and Curtis Shirley and a sister, Peggy Duncan., and is survived by his wife, Faye Lovell Shirley of the home, a son, Wendell J. Shirley of the home, two daughters, Voncyle Towe of Westminster, SC., and Teresa Smith of Lakemont, two sisters, Lorrayne Ramsey of Asheville, NC., and Lavon Starnes of Lawrenceville, GA. Three grandchildren, James Dills, Sean Smith and Teddy Towe., three great grandchildren, Jaycee Dills, Gunner Dills and Kreedance Smith. He loved his family and especially his children and great grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be Monday November 28, 2016 at the Lakemont Baptist Church 2:00 P.M. with Pastor Jewell Gaines and Rev. Bryan Alexander officiating. Burial will be in the Wiley Presbyterian Cemetery.

The body is at Hunter Funeral Home Where visitation will be from 6 to 8 P.M. Sunday November 27, 2016. The body will be placed at the Church at 1:00 P.M. November 28, 2016 (Monday) to lie-in-state.
