Wayne Lesley Owens, 82,, Clayton, Ga.


Wayne Lesley Owens, 82 of Jerry Gap Rd. in the Satolah community Rt 1 Clayton, died Thursday November 19, 2009 at his residence.
Born in Rabun County, Ga., October 20, 1927, he was the son of the late Arthur and Itta McCall Owens. He was the widower of Annie Sue Chastain Owens.
Wayne was a carpenter in the building industry and was a US. Army Veteran of WW2 and Korea. He was the recipient of 8 bronze stars and 2 purple hearts in Korea. He was a member of the Macedonia Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Paul and Leamon Owens and by three sisters; Lillian Nix, Gertrude Nix and Pauline Owens. , and is survived by one son, Lesley Owens of Clayton, three daughters, Margie Owens of Highlands, NC, Brenda Jenkins of Highlands, NC. , and Carol Austin of Clayton. One brother, Junior Owens of West, Virginia. One sister Inez Lesley of Simpsonville, SC. Seven grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be at 3:00 P.M. Sunday November 22, 2009 at the Macedonia Baptist Church with Rev. Alton Dendy and Rev. Walter Wilson officiating. Burial will be in the Church Cemetery.
The body is at Hunter Funeral Home where family will receive friends from 7 to 9 P.M. Saturday night November 21, 2009.
The body will be placed in the Church at 2:00 P.M. Sunday to lie in state.
The family is at the home of his daughter, Carol Austin on Jerry Gap, RD. in the Satolah Community, RT. 1 Clayton, Ga.
