Reverend Waymond Lunsford entered his heavenly home on August 13, 2021. Born on January 22, 1929, along Popcorn Creek in Rabun County, Georgia, he was the son of the late George Millard and Gene (Holcomb) Lunsford. Reverend Lunsford served his country during the Korean Conflict in the United States Army. He served his Lord pastoring Baptist churches in Georgia, North Carolina and South Carolina for over 60 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers; J.R. Lunsford, Willard (Short) Lunsford, Homer Lunsford and sisters; Betty Lunsford, Evilee Bramblett, Clarissa Wilbanks, Dorothy Carnes and Bonnie Dixon.
He is survived by his wife, Ann Gragg Lunsford of the home, a half-brother Sandy Lunsford of Tiger. He is also survived by his son Keith (Rhonda), grandchildren Erik (Amanda) and Roxanne (Larry), great grandchildren Jakob Lunsford, Anna Lunsford, Clayton Lunsford and Evelyn Lunsford.
Reverend Lunsford was a machinist at the A.I.D. Corporation for over 40 years. He was also known for his wood-working skills, photography, horticulture and genealogy. Rev. Lunsford attended Tiger Baptist Church until he was physically unable to. He loved the Lord and prayed without ceasing for his family, church and country.
The body is at Hunter Funeral Home where visitation will be from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM, Monday, August 16, 2021. Funeral services will be held at the Eastside Chapel at 12 noon. The Reverend Tim Hunnicutt and Layman Perry Lunsford will be officiating. Burial will be at Flat Creek Baptist Church Cemetery immediately following the service with Reverend Mike Wilbanks officiating.
The family is at the home on Wayah Trail in Clayton, Georgia.
