Virginia Elise Smith Lee, 80, of Clayton,GA., died Saturday July 20, 2008 at Northeast Georgia Medicial Center in Gainesville, GA. She was born September 8, 1927 in Rabun County.
She was the daughter of the late James Andrew Smith and Beulah Trusty Smith. She was the widow of Tom Lee and first married to the late Leroy Speed. She was a cook for many years and a member of the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.
She is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law- Andrew and Susan Speed of Clayton, Calvin and Bonnie Speed of Clarkesville, Bobby and Linda Speed of Clayton; One daughter- Beulah Love of Mtn. City; one brother-Oscar Trusty of Canton, Ohio. Eighteen grandchildren, thirty-six great grandchildren, and six great great grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by four brothers and one sister.
Funeral services will be Friday July 25, 2008 at 1:00 PM at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church with Rev. Raymond Page and Layman Lloyd Hunter officiating. Burial will follow in the Head of Tennessee Cemetery.
The family is at the home of her son and daughter-in-law, Bobby and Linda Speed, on Cannon Street in Clayton. The body is at Hunter Funeral Home where family will receive friends Thursday July 24, 2008 from 6 to 9 PM.
