Vassie York

Vassie Mae York, 86, of Clayton, GA., died Thursday November 30, 2017 at her home. She was the widow of Thomas F. York.

She was born in Rabun County July 29, 1931 to Melvin English and Edith Parker English. She was a homemaker and a member of the Persimmon Baptist Church.

Vassie was preceded in death by her parents, Melvin and Edith English, her husband, Thomas F. York, a daughter, Christine York Britt, by a brother, Kenneth English, two Sisters, Vera Turpin and Verde English. And is survived by four sons, Rev. John York (Sue) of Rainsville, AL., Rev. Steve York (Vanessa) of Tiger, GA., Felix York (Vickie) of Clayton, GA., and Dudley York of Clayton, GA., two brothers, Kay English (Lucille) of Clayton, GA., and Keith English (Janice) of Clayton, GA, one sister, Vernie Henry (Russell) of Clayton, GA. Ten grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren also survive.

Funeral Services will be at the Persimmon Baptist Church Sunday December 3, 2017 at 3:00 P.M. with Rev. John York officiating. Burial will be at the Persimmon Cemetery.

The body is at Hunter Funeral Home and will be taken to the Persimmon Baptist Church for visitation Sunday 3, 2017 from 2:00 P.M. 3:00 P.M. (The funeral hour). The family is at the home of her son and daughter-in-law, Rev. Steve and Vanessa York on Ritchie Road, Tiger, GA.

Family asks that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made, in her memory, to Persimmon Baptist Church, 2221 Persimmon Road Clayton, GA. 30525.
