Tommy Tyler, 69, Clayton, Georgia.


(Tommy Tyler) Thomas Ray Tyler, 69, made the journey to live with his father, Lloyd Tyler, mother, Savannah Moore Tyler, and brother Jeff Tyler, in heaven Sunday, July 24, 2011. He died at home after a short battle with cancer. He was a lifetime resident of Rabun County and a member of Carver’s Chapel Baptist Church.
Tommy was an avid hunter and loved to fish. He made many friends as he took his morning walks and liked to talk to people. He had a happy disposition that drew people to take a liking to him. Tommy was a family man but more than anything, he loved his grandchildren. He will be missed. Tommy is survived by his wife of 26 years, Sue Dickerson Tyler. Tommy has one daughter, Lynn Tyler Robbins and husband Randy, three grandchildren, Savannah Robbins, Jessica Robbins, and Mason Robbins, all of Franklin, NC. He has two stepsons, Tony Ramey and wife Martha of Clayton, Georgia, and Terry Ramey and wife Carol of Rome Georgia. He has three-step grandchildren, Tiffany and Brian Ramey of Clayton Georgia, and Justin Ramey of Rome Georgia. Tommy has five surviving sisters, Frances Green of Dillard GA, Carolyn Denton and husband Clark of Demorest, GA, Edith Ramey and husband Vinson of Demorest, GA, Terri Tyler of Toccoa, GA, and Teresa Moore and husband Gordon of Summer Town, GA.
The family will receive friends at Hunter Funeral Home Tuesday July 26; from 6-8pm. The body will be placed in the Mountain Grove Baptist Church at 12:00 P.M. Wednesday July 27, 2011 where visitation will be till 1:00 P.M. (the funeral hour). Burial will follow in Mountain Grove Cemetery on North Germany Mountain. The family request that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made, in his honor, to Hunter Funeral Home P.O. Box 653 Clayton, GA. 30525 to aid in funeral expenses.
