Tom Runion

Tom Runion, 82, of Mountain City, Georgia., died Wednesday April 9, 2014 at his residence. He was the widower of Ethel Hopper Runion.

He was born in Rabun County, Georgia., March 15, 1932 to the late Gus and Leola Gibson Runion. He was a cook in nursing home and with Rabun County Sheriff’s Department and was employed for a number of years at Rabun Mills. He was of the Church of God Faith.

Tom’s wife, Ethel Hopper Runion, went home to be with the Lord May 30, 2011. He is survived by five sons; Danny Runion (Virgie), Ernest Runion (Rhonda) of Mountain City, GA., Sammy Giles of Arrowsic, Maine., Glenn Giles (Brenda) and Tommy Giles of Clayton, GA., one brother, Ellrey Runion of Marietta, GA., two sisters, Mozell and Alice. Eleven grandchildren and twenty great grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be Saturday April 12 2014 at 2:00 P.M. at Blue Heights Baptist Church with Rev. Harvey Conner and Layman Lloyd Hunter officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

The body is at Hunter Funeral Home where family will receive friends from 6 to 8 P.M. Friday April 11, 2014. The body will be placed in the church at 1:00 P.M. Saturday April 12, 2014 to lie-in-state. The family is at the home of his son and daughter-in-law Ernest and Rhonda Runion on South Scruggs Street, Mountain City, Georgia.
