Thurston Wilbanks

Thurston Eugene (Gene) Wilbanks, Jr., 48, of Tiger, Georgia., died Wednesday morning May 21, 2014 in Mountain Lakes Medical Center.

Gene was born in Greenville, South Carolina., September 16, 1965, the son of the late Thurston and Beth Justus Wilbanks, Sr. He was employed by the county of Rabun for a long period of time. He was a member of Battle Branch Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara Cook Wilbanks of the home; one daughter, Ashley Lynette Wilbanks of Clayton, GA., three stepdaughters ; Darleen Buchanan of Westminster, SC, Nanette Ragusin and Tabitha Aylesworth, both of Melbourne, FL. One sister, Angela Kerry Wilbanks Waldron of Clayton, GA., one brother, Peter Kelly Wilbanks of Clayton, GA. One grandson, Kaleb Michael Queen, five step- grandchildren, Michael Shane Powers and Matthew Powers, Devon Ragusin, Annie Wilborn and Wesley Buchanan and two great grandchildren.

The body has been cremated and a memorial service will be at 6:00 P.M. Thursday May 22, 2014 at Battle Branch Baptist Church with Pastor Madison McCrackin officiating. Visitation at Battle Branch Baptist Church Thursday May 22, 2014 from 5:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. (The funeral hour). The family is at the home of his sister, Kerry Wilbanks Waldron on Partisan Lane, Clayton, Georgia.
