Thomas Buford Garner, 82, of Athens, Georgia., died Sunday night January 22, 2012 in ST. Mary’s Hospital Athens, Georgia.
Born in Franklin County, Georgia., October 12, 1929. He was the son of the late Thomas Barner Garner and Essie Marie Adams Garner. He was a member of Level Grove Baptist Church in Cornelia. He was a US. Army and US Air Force Veteran and was a retired Correctional Officer with the State of Georgia.
Mr. Garner was preceded in death by a daughter, Patricia Trotter and by a son-in-law Jerry Hester and is survived by his wife, Shelbia Smith Garner of the home; by one son and his wife, Thomas M. and Sherry Garner of Braselton, GA., Three daughters, Marie Dean and her husband Varon of Toccoa, GA., Teresa Smith-Immeel and her husband Steve of Athens, GA., and Jerri Lynn Hester of Athens, GA. Eleven grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren also survive.
Funeral Services will be at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday January 25, 2012 in the Chapel of Hunter Funeral Home with Rev. Johnny Wood officiating. Cremation will follow the service.
The body is at Hunter Funeral Home where Family will receive friends from 12:00 noon till 2:00 P.M. (The Funeral Hour) Wednesday January 25, 2012.
The family is at their respective residences.
