Sylvia Alexander Ledford Griggs, 91, of Cross Street, Mt City, Georgia, died Friday night February 5, 2010 in Mountain Lakes Medical Center.
Born In Cornelia, Ga., August 8,1918, she was the daughter of the late Wyley and Alice Baker Alexander. She was twice married, first to the late Richard R. Ledford, Sr., and later to the late E.L. Griggs. She was a homemaker and was also employed in the textile industry for many years. She was a member of Blue Heights Baptist Church and also attended Taylor’s Chapel Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Betty Jo Ledford and a son in 2010, Richard “Pierre” Ledford, Jr., and is survived by one daughter, Carolyn Ledford of Mtn. City and two step daughters, Ina Dean of Brunswick, Ga., and Kate Corbett of New Smyrna Beach, Fl., three stepsons, Roger Griggs and Andy Griggs both of Woodland, Wa., and Tim Griggs of Ashville, NC., sixteen grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and fourteen great- great- grandchildren
Funeral Services will be Tuesday February 9, 2010 at 2:00 P.M. at the Chapel of Hunter Home with Rev. Thomas Burrell officiating. Burial will be in the Blue Heights Cemetery.
The body is at Hunter Funeral Home where family will receive friends Monday February 8, 2010 from 6 to 8 P.M.
