Shirley Mae Muse Buchanan 87, Rabun Gap, GA


Shirley Mae Muse Buchanan, 87, of Meadowbrook Lane, Rabun Gap, GA., died April 28, 2008 in Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville, GA. She was the widow of Millard Merritt Buchanan.
She was born in Haywood County, NC, January 28, 1921, the daughter of the late Theodore Tecumseh and Dovie Lee Kuykendall Muse. She was a homemaker and a member of the Head of Tennessee Baptist Church and a member of various other organizations until failing health prevented service.
Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law; Millard Earl and Shelba Buchanan of Waynesville, NC, Joe and Wanda Buchanan of Rabun Gap, GA, two daughters and sons-in-law; Carolyn and Phillip Roberson of Otto, NC, Emma and Tommy Chastain of Rabun Gap, GA. One daughter-in-law; Mary Lou Buchanan Vinson of Dillard, GA., one brother; Albert Muse of Waynesville, NC, one sister; Thelma Francis of Waynesville, NC. Fourteen grandchildren and twenty eight great grandchildren also survive.
She was preceded in death by a son Jack Buchanan and by a brother T. T. Muse, Jr and by two sisters Mary Elizabeth Muse and Nellie Palmer.
Funeral services will be at 3:00 PM Thursday, May 1, 2008 at the Head of Tennessee Baptist Church with Rev. Doug Porter and Rev. Tommy Lamb officiating. Burial will follow in the Rabun Gap Presbyterian Cemetery with the Layman Lloyd Hunter officiating at the graveside.
The Body is at Hunter Funeral Home and will be taken to the Head of Tennessee Baptist Church where the family will receive friends Wednesday, April 30, 2008 from 6 until 8 PM. Family will also receive friends from 2 until 3 PM Thursday, May 1, 2008 at the church.
The family is at the home of her daughter and son-in-law Emma and Tommy Chastain on Meadowbrook Lane, Rabun Gap, GA.
