Sarah York

Sarah Dorothy York, 89, of Clayton, Georgia., died May 11, 2014 at her residence with her family by her side. She was the widow of John H. York.

Born May 28, 1924 in Rabun Gap, Georgia., she was the daughter of the late Emory G. and Lizzie Ritchie Moore. She had lived all her life (She was a native) in Rabun County and was a homemaker. She was the last member of her immediate family. She was a member of Wolffork Baptist Church.

Mrs. York was preceded in death by her husband John H. York; two sisters, Helen Ashcraft and Katherine Foster; by two brothers, Wallace Moore and Dean Moore and was a loving mother to five sons; Howard York of Dillard, GA., Rudy York of Marion, KY., Doyle York, (Vicki) of Rabun Gap, GA., Robert York of Rabun Gap, GA., and Terry York of Clayton., and grandmother to nine grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. She loved family and friends and cooking for them, and raising flowers in her garden.

Funeral Services will be at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday May 14, 2014 at Wolffork Baptist Church with Rev. Jimmy Greer and Rev. Cale Stancil officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

The body is at Hunter Funeral Home where family will receive friends Tuesday night May 13, 2014 from 6 To 8 P.M. The body will be placed in the church at 1:00 P.M. Wednesday to lie-in-state. The family is at the home on Old 441 North, Clayton.
