Sarah Jane Stancil Turpen, age 68, of Atlanta, GA., passed away Saturday, September 29, 2012.
Sarah was born in Rabun County, April 9, 1944, to the late Carl and Louise Stancil. She was the widow of the late Victor H. Turpen.
She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law: Vicki and Terry Tyler of Mountain City, three grandchildren: Samantha, Derek, and Kadi Tyler, two sisters and brothers-in-law: Lillie and Vaughn Billingsley of Rabun Gap, Linda and Rondall Crow of Clarkesville, two brothers and sisters-in-law; Walter and Celia Stancil of Rabun Gap, and James and Vickie Stancil of Rabun gap. Several nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive.
The family will receive friends at Hunter Funeral Home on Tuesday, October 2, from 6-8. The funeral services will take place on Wednesday, October 3, at 11:00 at Taylor’s Chapel Baptist Church with Rev. Cale Stancil officiating. Burial to follow at Taylor’s Chapel Cemetery. The family is at their respective residences.
The body will be placed in the church at 10:00 Wednesday October 3 to lie in state.
