Sarah Smith

Sarah Venus Smith, 88, of Clayton, GA. Died peacefully at her home on Shadyside Drive on Tuesday November 22, 2016.

Born in Rabun County, July 19, 1928. She was the daughter of late John Esco York + Martha Jane Trusty York. She was a homemaker and was employed in the textile industry for a number of years. She was a member of the Chechero Baptist Church.

Venus was twice married, first to the late Denver Dickerson, and later to the late Lonnie Smith. Besides her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Tom F. York and Willie York, and by five sisters, Nellie Turpin, Hazel Farmer, Gladys Watts, Josephine Lemon and Mildred Hogsed, and is survived by two sons, Randy Dickerson and Janie of Clayton and Rodney Dickerson and Amy of Rabun Gap. Three Sisters, Helen Andrews, Edith Bray and Alma Jones all of Clayton. Two grandchildren, Brian Dickerson and Kelly Allen (Josh); two great grandchildren, Alexandria Dickerson and Piper Allen. Several Nephews, Nieces and Cousins also survive.

The body has been cremated and at her request there will be no services held, and her family asks that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made, in her memory, to the Georgia Lung Association. (2750 Buford Hwy, Atlanta, GA 30324
