Sara Gipson

Sara Ruth Shirley Gipson, 88, of Lakemont, Georgia., died at her residence Friday night October 31, 2014. She was the widow of Jesse Carlton Gipson.

Born in Rabun County June 10, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Ralph and Amanda Taylor Shirley. She was a homemaker and was a member of the Wiley Presbyterian Church.

Besides her Parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by four brothers, Jesse, Curtis, Roy and Ray Shirley and by four sisters; Dora Coalley, Laura Philyaw, Rozelle Scott and Lillie Loudermilk and is survived by three sons, Charles Gipson of Lakemont, GA., Larry Gipson (Ruby) of Clayton, GA., and Danny Gipson and daughter; Maria Gipson of Lakemont, GA. One Sister, Maybelle Shirley Lang, of Seattle, WA. Five grandchildren; Josh C. Gipson, Greg Gipson, Maria Gipson, Christy Gipson and Joshua Robert Gipson., and twelve great grandchildren. And a very special niece Glenda Burrell. Several nephews, nieces and cousins also survive.

Funeral Services will be at 3:00 P.M. Sunday November 2, 2014 at Hunter Funeral Home Chapel following a visitation from 1:00 to 3:00 P.M. Rev. Tony Goss and Pastor Steve Townsend will officiate with Layman Lloyd Hunter at graveside. Burial will follow at Joy Baptist Cemetery Lakemont, GA. The family is at the residence on Connector Road in Lakemont.
