Roy Craig Gravley 82, Clayton
Roy Craig Gravley, 82, of the Warwoman Community, Clayton, died Monday February 20, 2012 at Mountan Lakes Medical Center.
Born in Pickens County, South Carolina November 25, 1929 he was a son of the late Roy and Kancie Galloway Gravley. Mr. Gravley was retired from Phoenix Steel after 30 years, he was a U.S. Army veteran of Korea, a member of American Legion Post 220 and a member of the Battle Branch Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by three sisters; Helen Owens, Gail Sanders and Inez Beasley.
Survivors include his wife, Louise Houck Gravley of the home; two daughters, Lynn Speed (Tim) of Clayton, Lisa Dryman (Norman) of Clayton, one grand daughter Sophie Speed of Clayton; one brother, Bill Gravley of Lakemont, GA; three sisters, Belle Barnes of Charlotte, NC, Sarah Smith of Tiger, GA, and Harriett Dayton of Clayton, GA.
Funeral Services will be 2 P.M. Wednesday February 22, 2012 at the Battle Branch Baptist Church with Rev. Madison McCrackin officiating. Burial will follow in the Hale Ridge Cemetery.
The body will be placed in church to lie in state from 1 PM until the funeral hour on Wednesday February 22, 2012.
The body is at Hunter Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 7 until 9 P.M. Tuesday February 21, 2012.
The family is at the home on John Houck Road, Clayton.
Hunter Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
