Roland S. Smith

Roland S. Smith, 88, of Lakemont, GA passed away on Sunday, August 13, 2023.

Born on September 24, 1934, to the late Marvin and Julia (West) Smith. He is preceded in death by his wife Thelma Shirley. Roland served in the United States Army and in the United States Air Force.  He was a member of Battle Branch Baptist Church.

He is survived by one daughter, Betty Bleckley, and husband Terry of Clayton and one son Dewey Smith of North Carolina, two granddaughters, Jessica Montgomery and Leslie Bleckley; and five great-grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, he is preceded in death by six brothers and four sisters.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 16, 2023, at 11:00 am at the Eastside Chapel of Hunter Funeral Home with Rev. Madison McCrackin officiating.  Burial will follow the service at Wolf Creek Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Tuesday evening, August 15, 2023, from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm at the Eastside Chapel of Hunter Funeral Home.
