Roger D Thrift

Roger D. Thrift, of Rabun Gap, GA passed away on Friday, August 26, 2022, at the age of 56 at Emory Hospital in Atlanta.

Born on July 27, 1966, in Rabun County he was the son of the late Rance John Thrift and Mary Jane Gilstrip. Roger spent his life in Rabun County where he worked as a truck driver for Leon Jones. He was a Christian by faith. Roger was known to be quick witted with a love for everyone, especially his family. He was generous with his time and talents and could do anything he set his mind to. He and his wife Lynda enjoyed traveling and their favorite place was the beach.

Roger is survived by his wife, Lynda Cannon Thrift of the home, two sons, Jesse Cannon (Jessica Duran) of Clayton, GA and Jeremy Cannon (Hanna) of Mtn City, GA, a brother, R.B. Thrift (Shannon Fountain) of Clayton, GA and six sisters, Jeanetta McCrackin (Clod) of Clayton, GA, Judy Ramey (Doug) of Martin, GA, Joanne Thrift of Clayton, GA, Jennie Frady (Gary) of Clayton, GA, Lorraine Kelly of Cornelia, GA and Joyce Timmerman of Gillsville, GA, and by three grandchildren, Ivory Cannon, Magnolia Cannon and Mavrick Cannon. Several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins also survive.

The body has been cremated. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 31, 2022, from 5:00pm - 7:00pm at the East Side Chapel of Hunter Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in his memory to Hunter Funeral Home at PO Box 653 Clayton, GA 30525 to aid in funeral expenses.


The family is at their respective residences.
