Robert (Bob) Harry Striggow 80, Tiger, Georgia
Robert (Bob) Harry Striggow, aged 80, beloved husband and father, died suddenly Saturday evening, Oct. 16, 2010, while camping with his wife in the Cohutta Wilderness. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Margaret Striggow of Tiger, Ga. and 3 children: Michelle Kennedy of Cleveland Ga; Brian Striggow (Becky) of Athens, Ga. and Christal Breeze (Dan) of Bavaria, Germany . Other survivors include three grandchildren: Meghan (Sam) Rumer and great-grandson William Thomas Rumer of Columbus, Ga ; Meredith Kennedy of Augusta, Ga. Kalin Kennedy of Cleveland, Ga., and a cousin Bunny (Dick) Harder, of Anderson, S.C.
A memorial service will be held at Hunter Funeral Home, Clayton, Ga. on Saturday Oct.23 at 4p.m., followed by a reception at St. James Episcopal Church, Clayton, Ga.
After 20 years, Bob retired from the insurance business, and started a new career in Rabun County as The Fixit Man. He also worked as a part-time raft guide with Southeastern Expeditions, and was a volunteer canoe instructor for the Tennessee Scenic River Association.
He and his wife Marge were both avid canoeists and adventurers, camping and canoeing all over the United States. Bob took up painting in his later years, in addition to woodworking, and was proficient in both hobbies, which brought him great pleasure.
