Richard R. (Pierre) Ledford, Jr., 71, of Mountain City, Georgia., died Friday January 1, 2010 in North East Georgia Medical Center, Gainesville.
Born in Clark County, Washington, October 24, 1938 he was the son of Sylvia Alexander Ledford of Mountain City, Ga., and the late Richard Roscoe Ledford, Sr. He was a retired switchman with Penn Central railroad and was an avid biker (Harley-Davidson). He was Baptist by Faith.
Mr. Ledford was preceded in death by a son, Richard Roscoe Ledford, 111., and by a daughter, Victoria Ledford, also by a sister Betty Jo Ledford.
He is survived by his mother, Sylvia Alexander Ledford Griggs, of Mt City, Ga., Two Daughters, Cynthia DeSantis and her husband, Gary of Woodland Hills, California and Tamara Underwood of Cookville, TN. Three sisters, Ina Dean, of Brunswick, Ga. Kate Corbett, of New Smyrna Beach, Fl., and Carolyn Ledford of Mt City, Ga. Four grandchildren, Richard Roscoe Ledford, iv, Ryan Underwood, Chase Underwood and Angel Ledford. Two great-grandchildren, Braiden Underwood and Kaira Underwood.
Funeral Services will be at 2:00 P.M. Monday January 4, 2010 at the Chapel of Hunter Funeral Home with Rev. Chad Stewart officiating. Burial will be in the Taylor’s Chapel Cemetery, Rabun Gap, Ga.
The body is at Hunter Funeral Home where family will receive friends (Tonight) Sunday January 3, 2010 from 6 to 8 P.M. The family is at the home on North Street, Mt City, Ga.
