Ray Wilborn , age , 96 of Ray Wilburn Lane , Rabun Gap, Ga. died Thursday September 18 ,2008 at his home .
Born in Rabun County , He was the son of the late Lafayette and Sally Ledford Wilburn He was preceded in death by his wife of 72 years , Otta Jenkins Wilburn in 2006 . He was also preceded in death by six brothers , one sister ,and two great grandchildren.
He was a lumberman , a cattleman, and a farmer . He worked for Blue Ridge Lumber company and Henesey’s Sawmill for many years. He was a member of the Taylor’s Chapel Baptist Church.
He is survived by one son , Victor Wilburn , of Tallulah Falls , Ga. and by two daughters, Pansy Bingham and Betty Lakey of Rabun Gap , Ga. one sister , Belle Henslee of Rabun Gap , Ga. Six grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren and one great great grandchild . Several nephews , nieces, and cousins also survive.
Funeral services will be at Three O’clock PM on Sunday September 21, 2008 at Newman Chapel Baptist Church with Reverend Larry Cannon and Reverend Clay Patton officiating. Layman Lloyd Hunter will officiate at graveside.
The body is at Hunter Funeral Home where family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm Saturday September 20, 2008. The body will be placed in the church at 2 O’clock PM. Sunday to lie in state .
