Rabun Martin McCall, 79, of Gipson Lane, Lakemont, Georgia., died Monday July 12, 2010 at his home.
Born in Rabun County July 15 1930 he was the son of the late Harley and Amy Martin McCall. He was a retired commercial insulator, having worked for 29 years and was a member of the Asbestos workers Local 48 of Atlanta, retiring in 1984. He was a Korean War veteran and served as a Military Policeman on active duty. He was a member of the Camp Creek Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. He was a former member of the Lakemont Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and as church treasurer for many years.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Clarence and Lamar McCall and by two sisters, Moriene and Estella McCall, and is survived by his wife of almost 60 years Margaret Hoffman McCall of the home. One son Stephen McCall and his wife Lisa, of Wiley, GA., and two grandchildren Weston and Haleigh McCall, two sisters; Willie Dixon, of Clarkesville, GA, and Lois DeMore of Turnerville, GA.
Funeral Services will be at 2:00 P.M. Thursday July 15, 2010 at Camp Creek Baptist Church, Lakemont, GA., with Rev. Larry Brown and Rev. Mickey Woods officiating. Rev. John Gipson will conduct the graveside service. Burial will follow in the church Cemetery.
The body is at Hunter Funeral Home where family will receive friends from 6 to 9 P.M. Wednesday July 14, 2010.
The body will be placed in the church at 1:00 P.M. Thursday to lie in state.
The family is at the residence on Gipson Lane, Lakemont, GA.
