Henrietta Whidden “Penny” Melton, 80, of Tiger, Passed away April 20, 2012 at her home.
Penny was born January 3, 1932 in Bartow, Florida to the late Monte Julian and Jessie Braswell Whidden. She was a graduate of Florida State University where she was a member of the Chi Omega Sorority. Penny and her husband, Donald E. Melton were married in Mulberry, Florida in 1957 and lived in Winter Haven, Florida until they moved to Mountain City, Georgia in 1974. They became residents of Tiger in 2001. She was a member of Saint James Episcopal Church in Clayton.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Barbara Whidden Hicks.
Survivors include her husband, Donald E. Melton of the home; a niece, Susan E. Hicks of Miami Beach, FL; and a nephew Monte W. Hicks of Charlotte, NC.
Her body has been cremated and a memorial service will be held at Saint James Episcopal Church at Saturday, 2 PM May 12, 2012. In Llieu of flowers please make donations to, Regency Hospice Foundation, P.O. Box 494, Hiawassee, GA 30546.
