Paul William Gurtler, 78, of Rabun County, GA, passed away on March 17, 2025, surrounded by his loved ones. Born in Columbus, Ohio, on August 2, 1946, he was raised in Reynoldsburg, Ohio, where he developed a strong work ethic and a deep love for his craft. Paul moved his business to Atlanta, GA, in 1982 for work related to the Hartsfield Airport expansion with house moving. Paul and Kim met at Clayton Community Church in Lake City, GA, and married in 1984. Later, in 1994, they relocated to Rabun County to raise their growing family.
Paul was a skilled house mover and general contractor, a profession he proudly inherited from his father, W.A. Gurtler. He dedicated his life to his work, taking great pride in every project and leaving behind a legacy of craftsmanship, integrity, and attention to detail.
Paul is survived by his beloved wife, Kimberly; his brother, William "Bill" Gurtler; his children, Christopher Gurtler, Thomas Gurtler (Danielle), Timothy Gurtler (Renee), Matthew Gurtler (Marissa), Kathryn Wilson (Amile), Benjamin Gurtler, and Victoria Clarke (Christopher); his grandchildren, Sydney Lewis, Cassandra Wilson (Kyle), Brianna Gurtler (Chase), Michael Gurtler, Nicholas Gurtler (Hannah), Joshua Gurtler, Theodore Clarke, Eleanor Clarke, Olivia Gurtler, Samuel Gurtler, David Gurtler, Elizabeth Gurtler, Charlotte Wilson, and Dorothy Wilson; and his great-grandchildren, Kainya Wilson, Killian Wilson, Elijah Wilson, Naomi Wilson, Rosalie Boyd, Dalton Boyd, Adrian Gurtler, and Eloise Gurtler.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Pauline and W.A. Gurtler; his sisters, Jean and Barbara; and his daughter, Elizabeth Jean Gurtler.
Paul will be remembered for his dedication to his work, his selflessness, his honesty, his love for his family, and the lasting impact he made on those around him.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, March 20, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Eastside Chapel at Hunter Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held on Friday, March 21, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Eastside Chapel at Hunter Funeral Home to honor his life and legacy.
