Patsy Alley

Patsy Mitchell Alley, 81, of Clear Water Lane, Rabun Gap, Georgia., died Monday May 5, 2014 at her residence.

Born January 2, 1933 in Rabun County, she was the daughter of the late John Rockaway Mitchell and Elzia McCall Mitchell. She was the widow of Samuel C. Alley. Patsy was a member of the Lakemont Baptist Church for 60 plus years and had ministered to the people in her church through Bible School and other areas of the church, and with her husband in the American Legion and his military associations. She was an avid bird watcher and protector.

She was preceded in death by a brother, J.R. Mitchell and by two sisters, Hilda Hopper and Hazel Kilby and is survived by a son, Ross Alley (Karen) of Rabun Gap, GA., two daughters; Sarah Alley Brewer (Dale) of Lakemont, GA., and Karla Alley of Rabun Gap, GA. Three brothers; Thomas Mitchell and Douglas Mitchell both of Clayton and Lloyd Mitchell of Mt. City, GA., four sisters, ; Betty Jo Gibby and Blondine Barron and twin sisters, Beverly Mason and Marilyn Ballew all of Clayton, GA. Three grandchildren, Rhonda Crone of Clayton and Jesse and Nathan Alley of Rabun Gap, GA., and one great granddaughter, Emma Downs. Several nephews, nieces, cousins and friends also survive.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 A.M. Thursday May 8, 2014 at the Lakemont Baptist Church with Rev. Jewell Gaines, Rev. Larry Cannon and Rev. Matt Shuler officiating. Burial will be in the Cannon Cemetery Wiley, Georgia.

The body is at Hunter Funeral Home where family will receive friends Wednesday night May 7, 2014 from 6 to 9 P.M. The body will be placed in the church at 10:00 A.M. Thursday to lie-in-state. The family is at the home of her son and daughter-in-law, Ross and Karen Alley on Clear Water Lane, Rabun Gap, Georgia.

Family asks that in lieu of flowers memorial donations be made, in her memory, to Relay for Life, 2565 Thompson Bridge Road, Suite 114, Gainesville, GA. 30501, or to Lakemont Baptist Church.
