Opal Burrell Nichols, 91, of the Persimmon Community, died Saturday February 14, 2015 in Mountain Lakes Medical Center.
Born in Towns County, August 18, 1923 she was the daughter of the late Garnett and Ethel McNabb Burrell. She was a loving mother of nine Children, four grandchildren and one great great grandchild. She was a homemaker and of the Baptist Faith.
She was preceded in death by her husband J.C. Nichols and is survived by three sons, C.J. Nichols (Burnette) of Clayton, Jerry Nichols and Ronnie Nichols both of Clayton. Six daughters, Evdean Nichols, Clayton, GA., Oma Jean Turpin (Russell) Clayton, GA., Christine Gordon (T.J.) Clayton, GA., Darlene Gribble (Lonnie) Franklin, NC., Barbara Sanders, Clayton, GA., Sherrie Sims (Greg) Clayton. Four grandchildren, Christie Veal, Whitney Upchurch, Joshua Nichols, Colby Nichols and one great grandson, Bentley Upchurch. She was the last member of her immediate family.
Funeral Services will be at 1:00 P.M. Monday February 16, 2015 at the Chapel of Hunter Funeral Home with Rev. Greg Welborn officiating. Burial will be in the Persimmon Cemetery
The body is at Hunter Funeral Home where visitation will be from 12:00 Noon to 1:00 P.M. Monday February 16, 2015 (the funeral hour). The family is at her home on Persimmon Road in the Persimmon Community.
