On February 18, 2014 God called Myrtle McCall of the Five Points Community to her Heavenly Home. Born in Clayton, Myrtle spent her life in Rabun County. She was a loving and devoted wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great- Grandmother and Great Great Grandmother. Besides being a homemaker, Myrtle worked for Burlington Industries. She then began a career as a cook, working for several years at Mountain View Convalescent Center and also the Dillard House. In her younger years she attended Lakemont Baptist Church, then for several years Clayton Church of God.
Myrtle is reunited with those who preceded her in death; her husband John Victory McCall, parents, Ernest and Effie Lovell Holcomb, a brother George Holcomb, a daughter Joyce McCall-Erwin and two sons, David Wayne McCall and Carroll McCall.
She is survived by a son Cecil McCall (Nancy) of Tiger. A daughter Martha Jo Teague (Dan) of Clayton. Grandchildren; Bruce McCall (Cathy) of Mayesville, Stacy McCall (Vicky) of Lula, Wayne Teague ( Dawna) of Toccoa, Becky Teague McGahee (Sean) of Clayton and Kristen McCall of Winder and Erin Scott (Johnny) of Clayton. 11 Great Grandchildren and 2 Great Great Granddaughters. A sister, Lou Holcomb also survives.
Visitation will be at Hunter Funeral Home on Wednesday February 19th from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M. The Funeral will be at Clayton Church of God on Thursday February 20th at 1:00 P.M. with Pastor Brian Alexander and Pastor Tim Hunnicutt officiating. Burial will be in the Clear Creek Community Cemetery.
Her grandsons and great grandsons will serve as pallbearers: Bruce McCall, Stacy McCall, Wayne Teague, Sean McGahee, David McGahee, Jacob McGahee, Tyler Teague, Mason Teague, Avery Teague, Jacob McCall, Conner McCall and Jason Emery.
Hunter Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
