Mildred Keener Stancil 77, Clayton, GA
Mildred Keener Stancil, 77, of Dud Creek Spur, in the Chechero Community, Clayton, GA., died Tuesday October 4, 2011 at her residence. She was the widow of Frank J. Stancil, Sr.
Born in Rabun County, November 7, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Robert C. and Drucie Smith Keener. She was a supervisor with Sangamo-Weston Company for a number of years; she was a caretaker and worked in the Hospice program. She was also a homemaker and quilter at the Senior Service Center in Tiger and was a member of the Chechero Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by a brother, C.A. Keener and by two grandchildren and one great grandchild, and is survived by one son, Frank J. Stancil, Jr. and his wife Melinda, of Locust Grove, GA. Three daughters, Ona Stancil Owens and her husband, Donnie of Clayton, Christine Stancil of the home, and Carrie Stancil Nation and her husband, Harry of Hogansville, GA. Two brothers; Earl Keener and David Keener both of Clayton. One sister, Mary Ann Cooley of Clayton. Ten grandchildren and twenty-one great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 11:00AM, Friday, October 7, 2011 at the chapel of Hunter Funeral Home with Rev. Daniel Stancil and Layman Frank J. Stancil, Jr. officiating. Burial will be in the Stancil Family Cemetery with Rev. Joey Seabolt conducting graveside services.
The body is at Hunter Funeral Home where family will receive friends Thursday evening, October 6, 2011 from 6 to 8 PM. The family is at home on Dud Creek Spur in the Chechero Community.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers memorial donations be made, in her memory, to Hospice of Northeast Georgia, PO Box 494, Hiawassee, GA 30546.
