Matthew Hicks, 27, of Clayton, GA., died Wednesday, April 2, 2008 in Stephens County Hospital.
Born December 7, 1980 in Jefferson County, Alabama, he was the son of Richard Hicks of Columbiana, AL, and Tammy Hicks of Leeds, AL. He had spent most of his life in Shelby, AL, he was a painter in the construction industry, a U.S. Navy veteran and was of the Methodist faith.
Survivors in addition to his parents include his companion; Pepper Speed of Clayton, GA, one son; Peyton Hicks of Clayton, GA, one brother; Joshua Hicks of Moody, AL, one sister; Melissa Hicks of Leeds, AL, paternal grandmother; Helen Gengler Hicks of Columbiana, AL, and a maternal grandmother; Barbara Owen Oliver of Locust Fork, AL.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather; Richard E. Hicks, Sr.
The body is at Hunter Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 1 PM until 3 PM Saturday, April 5, 2008.
Funeral services will be held at 3 PM Saturday, April 5, 2008 in the Chapel of Hunter Funeral Home with Rev. Raymond Page officiating.
