Matthew Jonathan Davenport

Matthew Davenport, age 47 of Tiger, GA, passed away Tuesday, May 21, 2024, at Abbeville, GA and is now safely in the arms of Jesus. 

He was born June 10, 1976, in Albany, GA and is the son of Charles Jonathan "Jon" Davenport and Carol Stripling Janes.

Matt was an avid Florida Gator fan who loved watching both the girls' softball team and football games. He was a dedicated employee at Chick-fil-A in Clayton, where he considered all his coworkers’ family.

He is survived by his mother, Carol Stripling Janes and husband Gene of Newport, TN; his father Charles Jonathan "Jon" Davenport of Tiger, GA; sister, Danielle Kelly and husband Justin of Talbott, TN; brother, Adam Davenport of Sylvester, GA; nieces and nephews, Jaiden, Kaleigh and Logan Kelly; step grandmother, Barbara Stripling; aunts, DeLynn Hoover and Lauren Scott; and several cousins also survive.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Ray and Dee Davenport, Bobby Stripling, and Joyce Emory Minix.

Memorial services will be held on Friday, May 24, 2024, at 11:00 AM in the Chapel of Hunter Funeral Home with Jay Couey and Chaplain Mark Coker officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until the service hour.
