Mary Burrell Shedd, 98, of Warwoman Road, Clayton, GA., died Friday Morning April 16, 2010 in Mountain Lakes Medical Center.
Born in Rabun County June 6, 1911, She was the daughter of the late Virgil M. Burrell, Sr. and Leila Cannon Burrell. She was a clerk in the Rabun County Tax Office when her father was tax Commissioner. She was a clerk in the Belk’s store for a number of years and was a homemaker. She was a member of the Clayton Baptist Church. She was the last member of her immediate family.
She was twice married; first to the late Nile Carver and to Oris Shedd, who survives.
She was preceded in death by a son; James Harold Carver and by siblings; Ethel Burrell, Myrtice McClure, Ola Belle Scruggs, Ruth Childers and Dot Church; V.M. Burrell, Jr; and Dick Burrell.
Surviving are husband, Oris Shedd of the home- Two grandsons, Rev.Jim Carver of Clayton and Randy Carver of Texas. One granddaughter, Kim Lovell of Tiger, GA., a daughter- in-law, Darlene Carver of Tiger, GA. Six great grandchildren and a host of nephews, nieces and cousins also survive.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 P.M. Monday April 19 2010 at the Chapel of Hunter Funeral Home with Rev. Jim Carver and Layman Lloyd Hunter officiating. Burial will be in the Wiley Cemetery.
The body is at Hunter Funeral Home where family will receive friends from 7 to 9 P.M. Sunday April 18, 2010. The family is at the home on Warwoman Road.
