Mary Messer Keener 60, Rabun Gap, GA


Mary Messer Keener, 60, of the Wolffrork Community, wife of Gerald “Jerry” Keener died Sunday, February 24, 2008 at her residence.
Born March 5, 1947 in Liberty, South Carolina she was a daughter of Frances Galloway Messer and the late Roscoe Messer. Mrs. Keener was a home maker and was owner / operator of “Mary’s Back Door Bakery” and was known for her Jams, Jellies and baked goods. She was a member of the Joy Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by a son; Eric Keener.
Survivors include her husband; Jerry Keener of the home, one son; Michael Keener and wife Michelle of Tiger, two daughters; Cynthia Ramey of Jefferson, GA and Rebecca Hollifield and husband Ed, Jr of Clayton, GA, two brothers; Lloyd Messer of Clarkesville, GA and Lee Messer of Franklin, NC, three sisters; Martha Coggins of Saluda, SC, Jean Johnson of Tusksegee, NC, Marie Conner of Rabun Gap, GA and Janie McKinney of Rosmon, NC, 7 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, February 27, 2008 at 1 PM from the Joy Baptist Church with the Rev. Tony Goss officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The body will be placed in the church at 12:00 Noon Wednesday, February 27, 2008 to lie in state until the funeral hour.
The family is at the home on Wolffork Road and will receive friends from 7 until 9 PM, Tuesday, February 26, 2008 at Hunter Funeral Home.
