Margaret Emma Queen, age 68, of Mountain City Georgia passed away peacefully on November 1, 2017 with her husband by her side. She was born in Union County, South Carolina on January 25, 1949.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Sara McCutcheon, a brother, Wallace McCutcheon, and a sister, Betsy Ellis. She is survived by her loving husband of 49 years, Allen Queen, three children, Lynn Queen Stalcup (Brian), Gary Queen (Nicole), and Jennifer Queen Martin (Phil). A sister, Martha Lou "Mott" Campbell and a brother, Hugh "Mack" McCutcheon. Nine grandchildren, Kaley Boatwright, Alleson and Gracie Queen, Kirstin, Alexis, Mackenzie and Emili Martin, and Brian and Blake Stalcup.
Margaret was better known as "Mamaw" to her immediate family and "Bootle" to her extended family. The two things that meant the most to her was her family and her faith.
Mamaw grew up in Lockhart South Carolina but moved to Rabun County when she married her best friend and soul mate, Allen. She spent most of her life in Mountain City, where she and Allen raised their three children. She touched many lives over her lifetime as a teacher at Rabun County Headstart, a Sunday School teacher at Blue Heights Baptist Church, and as a faithful servant of God at Camp Pinnacle.
The family will receive friends on Friday, November 3 at Hunter Funeral Home from 6-8 pm. Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Saturday, November 4 at Blue Heights Baptist Chuch with the Rev. Fred Young and Rev. Rondal Owen officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetary.
