Mae Marie Watts, 72, of Clayton, GA., died Tuesday March 13, 2018 in Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville, GA.
Born in Rabun County, GA., April 28, 1945, she was the daughter of the late Ben and Connie Gibson Chappell.
She was employed by Claburne Manufacturing Company for a number of years, and was a baptist by faith. Marie was the widow of William John Watts.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William Watts, by her parents, Ben and Connie Chappell, by a brother, Vell Chappell and by sisters, Mae Humphries, Maxine Keener, and Annie Lee Henry. She is survived by a daughter, Kristy Fortner (Michael) of Clayton, GA., and by a son, Darrin Watts (Leeann) of Mtn. City, GA. Three sisters, Gloria Eller of South Carolina, Sarah Watts of Clayton, GA., and Ivylyn Butler of Harriman, TN., five grandchildren, Zachary, Bradly, Nicholas, Chrysandra and Karolyn and two great grandchildren, Emrys and Belladonna also survive.
Funeral services will be at 1:00PM Friday March 16, 2018 at the Battle Branch Baptist Church with Rev. Jim Green and Rev. Michael Rogers officiating.
Burial will be in the J.D. Watts Family Cemetery on Cotton Lane, Clayton, GA.
The body is at Hunter Funeral Home where visitation will be Thursday evening March 15, 2018 from 6:00PM to 8:00PM. The body will be placed in Battle Branch Baptist Church Friday, March 16, 2018 at 12:00NOON to lie in state.
The family is at their respective residences.
Family asks that those bringing food take it to the fellowship hall at the Eastside Chappell of Hunter Funeral Home. Please list the foods on the containers due to certain food allergies.
