Madeline Sims Clamp 92, Rabun Gap, Georgia.
Madeline Sims Clamp, beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother peacefully completed her earthly journey to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on April 4, 2012. We celebrate her ‘homecoming’ as she was a devoted servant of Jesus until her last breath.
Born on the eastern shore of Guilford, Virginia, she was a team player on her high school basketball team and after graduation attended Business College earning a degree. In 1945, she married Chester Sims after World War ll and later moved to West Palm Beach, Florida for many years. She was a member of the local garden club and proudly won several blue ribbons for her beautiful pansies. She taught Sunday School to eight year old children for 23 years at the First Baptist Church of West Palm Beach where she a faithful member. In 1977, she moved to Rabun County, Georgia, where she lived for 35 years in a mountain top home. She was a devoted member of The Head of Tennessee Baptist Church in Dillard, Georgia. Those that knew her always enjoyed her many hugs and sweet smile. In her final days, she repeatedly said “I am so blessed and with every smile, I will again be with you”.
Madeline is survived by her daughter, Linda; son Dennis; Tommy, Linda’s husband; Susan, Dennis’ wife; grandchildren, Jason, Justin, and Evan; three great grandchildren; and a large extended family of in-laws, nephews, nieces, and cousins all of whom felt special around her. She was predeceased by her husbands, Chester Sims and Oliver Clamp; siblings, Preston, Walter, Hubert, and Mitchell.
A Visitation will be held from 6:00 – 8:00 p. m. on April 13, 2012 at the Hunter Funeral Home in Clayton, Georgia. A ‘Celebration Memorial Service’ will be held at 11:00 a.m., April 14, 2012 at The Head of Tennessee Baptist Church in Dillard, Georgia.
