Lucy Thomas Chastain, 88 of Dillard, Ga. Died Tuesday September 22, 2009 at her home. She was the widow of Luke Chastain.
She was born October 7, 1920 in Rabun County, to the late Julius and Ellen Kell Thomas. She had lived most of her life in Rabun County. She was a homemaker and was a member of the Head of Tennessee Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by two sons; Ned and Joe Chastain and was the last member of her immediate family.
Surviving her are four sons; Calvin, Roy, Mack and Gary (Chub) Chastain, all of Dillard, Ga., three daughters, Linda Stewart of Otto, NC. , Sue Owens of Dillard, Ga. and Mary (Shorty) Billingsley of Scaly Mtn, NC; two daughters- in-law; Marie Chastain of Dillard, Ga. and Claudette Chastain of Rabun Gap, Ga., twenty three grandchildren, forty two great-grandchildren and one great-great grand child.
Funeral Services will be at 2:00 P.M. Friday September 25, 2009 at the Flats Middle Creek Baptist Church, Scaly Mtn, NC, with Rev. Dwight Loggins, Rev. Davis Hooper and Rev. Marty Kilby Officiating. Rev. Jamie Chastain will conduct the Graveside Service at the Church Cemetery. The body is at Hunter Funeral Home where family will receive friends from 6 to 8 P.M. Thursday September 24, 2009. The body will be placed in the Church at 1:00 P.M. Friday to lie in state. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. The family is at the home on Paradise Lane, Dillard, Ga.
