Lois Elizabeth Prater 90, Clayton , Ga.


Lois Elizabeth Cordell Prater , 90 of Clayton departed this life on January 7 , 2009 . She was born in Hart County, Ga. July 28 , 1918 , The daughter of the late John R. and Tallulah Gaines Cordell , and had lived in Clayton most of her life . Lois received a Bachelor of Science in Home Economics from the University of Georgia and a Masters degree in Nutrition from the University of Tennessee. She taught Home Economics and was a Licensed Insurance Agent for over 20 years with her husband .She was a member of the Clayton First United Methodist Church and was actively involved in the church choir for many years.
She was preceded in death by a son , Riley Prater and by two brothers and by two sisters and is survived by her husband , Howard E. Prater of sixty years. Two sons and spouses ; Cordell and Robin Prater of Sugar Hill , Ga. , George and Vickie Prater of Tiger , Ga. , grandson and his wife , Nicholas and Christa Prater of Suwanee , Ga. , granddaughter Susan Prater of Atlanta , Ga. , grandson William Prater of Tiger , Ga.
Funeral Services will be at 2:30 P.M. Saturday Jan.10 , 2009 at the Clayton First United Methodist Church with Rev. Carol Cook officiating . Burial will follow in Rabun Memory Park .
The body is at Hunter Funeral Home where family will receive friends from 12:30 to 1:30 P.M. Saturday January 10 , 2009 . The family is at the home on Warwoman Road , Clayton , Ga.
Family asks that in lieu of flowers donations in her memory be made to the Clayton First United Methodist Church Music Department , P.O. Box 703 , Clayton ,Ga. 30525
