Lillie Hazel Brown Billingsley 96, Scaly Mountain
Lillie Hazel Brown Billingsley, 96, of Scaly Mountain, North Carolina, died Monday morning September 20, 2010 at her residence.
Born in Macon County, North Carolina, she was the daughter of the late Andy and Delilah Owens Brown; she was the widow of Jim Billingsley, she was a homemaker and was a member of the Flats Middle Creek Baptist Church, Scaly Mountain, North Carolina for 79 years. She was the last member of her immediate family.
Mrs. Billingsley was preceded in death by four sons; Juan Billingsley, Joe Ed Billingsley, Jimmy Billingsley and Bobby Billingsley; by five brothers; Ransom Brown, Ed Brown, Lee Brown, Lloyd Brown and Harry Brown; and by three sisters; Belle Watkins, Edna Dryman and Dolly Billingsley; she is survived by two sons; Gene Billingsley and Homer Billingsley, both of Scaly Mountain, North Carolina; three daughters, Ruth Vinson, Alice Hoct and Gail Head all of Scaly Mountain, North Carolina; twenty three grandchildren, forty three great grandchildren and eight great, great grandchildren. Several Nephews, Nieces and cousins also survive.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM Thursday September 23, 2010 at the Flats Middle Creek Baptist Church, Scaly Mountain, North Carolina, with Rev. Oliver Rice and Rev. Dwight Loggins Officiating. Burial will be in the Scaly Mountain Methodist cemetery.
The body is at Hunter Funeral Home where family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Wednesday evening September 22, 2010. The body will be placed in the church at 10:00 AM Thursday September 23, 2010 to lie in state.
