Lillian Dillard Taylor, 99, of Cardinal Lane, Dillard, Georgia., died Saturday May 21, 2011, at her residence, after a brief illness.
Born in Rabun County, May 14, 1912, She was the daughter of the late Robert E. Lee Dillard and Amanda Turpen Dillard. She was the last member of her immediate family.
Mrs. Taylor was the widow of Robert “DOC” Taylor, who died at a very young age, and after his death she proceded to raise her two young children, and finish her degree in elementary education. She obtained her masters degree and taught school for thirty-eight (38) years in the Rabun County School System. She enjoyed traveling and spending time with her family. She gave her life to the Lord Jesus Christ on June 21, 1959 at the Head of Tennessee Baptist Church, where she became a member and served her Lord, the Church, and the Community.
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law Bobby F. and Linda B. Taylor of Dillard, GA. A daughter, Joyce Ann Shook of Dillard, GA. Eight grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren, and Special Hospice caregivers; Rhonda Carpenter, Laurie Alteria and Kathy Deaver.
Funeral services will be at the Head of Tennessee Baptist Church Monday May 23, 2011 at 2:30 P.M. with Rev. Doug Porter and Rev. Danny Cannon officiating, with Layman Lloyd Hunter conducting the graveside service in the Head of Tennessee Baptist Church cemetery.
The body is at Hunter Funeral Home and will be taken to the Head of Tennessee Baptist Church at 1:30 P.M. Monday, where family will receive friends from 1:30 P.M. to the funeral hour at 2:30 P.M.
The family is at their respective residences.
There will be no formal visitation at the funeral home, but you may come by from five o’clock Sunday until noon Monday, to visit and sign the guest book.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers memorial donations be made in her honor to Compassionate Hospice, 1435 Haw Creek Circle, Suite 402 Cumming, Georgia 30041.
