Kenneth S. McClain, 65, Rabun Gap, Ga.


Kenneth S. “Big Mac” McClain, 65, of the Betty’s Creek Community died Tuesday, January 19, 2010.
Born in Rabun County, May 16, 1944, he was a son of the late Gay and Ida Williams McClain. He was a retired textile worker having worked for Burlington Industries and Fruit of The Loom for a number of years. He was a U. S. Army veteran of the Vietnam era, an avid hunter and fisherman and loved gospel music. He was an active member of the Head of Tennessee Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon, a Sunday School teacher and of the RA’s, and was the Chairman of The Brotherhood .
He was preceded in death by nine brothers; J. R., Robert, Billy, Mac, L.C., Joe, Jack, Edward, and Odis McClain.
Survivors include one brother; Olin McClain of Federal Way, Washington, two sisters; Winnie Sue York and (Calvin) of Clayton, GA, Catherine Hildebrand and (Dan) of Turnerville, GA. Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
Funeral services will be at The Head of Tennessee Baptist Church Thursday evening January 21, 2010 at 8 PM with the Rev. Carl Carpenter and Rev Brian Alexander officiating. Burial will be at 11 AM Friday, January 22, 2010 at the Betty’s Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family is at the home on Betty’s Creek Road and will receive friends at The Head of Tennessee Baptist Church from 6 until 8 PM on Thursday, January 21, 2010.
The body is at Hunter Funeral Home and will be placed in the church at 6 PM.
