Karl W. Struck 05/29/1928 – 01/08/2014
On January 8th, 2014 God called Karl Struck, 85, of Clayton Georgia to his Heavenly home. Born in Springfield Illinois, he married his High School sweetheart Shirley Struck and celebrated their 64th Anniversary in June. Karl began his career as an apprentice under his father as a model maker at Sangamo Electric Company. Through the years he worked his way up to Technical Design Engineer, a position that normally requires a college education. He was a member of 1ST Baptist Church in Springfield where he served as Deacon, chairman of the building & grounds committee, member of finance committee and several other positions. In 1978, with Sangamo relocating, they moved to Clayton Georgia and was thankful to call this home. After the closing of Sangamo, he was employed at Gap Manufacturing as an engineer until his retirement in 1994. In his spare time he was an avid photographer winning many ribbons and acclamations for his photos. He was a devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather and always had a smile and positive outlook whatever the situation.
He was preceded in death by his father, Karl Struck, Sr. His mother Mary Moore Struck, sisters Margaret Moore and Virginia Sherwood and his loving wife Shirley.
Survivors include daughters Elaine Platt of Shirley Illinois, Diane (Dick) Jackson of Loomis, California and Nancy (Cecil) McCall of Tiger, Georgia. 6 grandchildren and 12 Great grandchildren also survive.
