Karen Anita Lee, 62, of Clayton, died Monday December 3, 2012 in Mountain View Health Care, following a lengthy illness. Born in Anderson County, SC January 26, 1950 she was the daughter of the late Carroll Sanford Lee, Sr. and Grace Elizabeth Smith Lee.
She was a graduate of Rabun County High School, Clayton, GA., and attended Piedmont College, Demorest, GA., Greenville Technical College Greenville, SC., Sumpter area Technical College and the University of South Carolina, Sumpter, SC. She was a member of Clayton Baptist, Vacation Bible School Teacher at Wedgefield Baptist Church, Wedgefield, SC, Heart Club Chairman, Clayton, GA., and was a volunteer for several charities. Ms. Lee’s first love in professions was radio broad casting. She began at WGHC,in Clayton, GA. She later became office manager at WAJA and WPFS in Franklin, NC. She formed her own company, New Wave ADS, and worked as a graphic designer selling her work to businesses and donating to religious and charitable organizations in Rabun County and surrounding areas. After she became disabled, MS. Lee continued to do home study computer- courses in graphic design and network marketing. MS. Lee was a published author, counted cross-stich designer and artist. She published a book of counted cross-stitch designs and made appearance on the Nancy Welch TV Show, Spartanburg, SC. Featuring her book, “Kids Count, Too” she was honored with two autograph parties for her book by Woman’s Club of Clayton, Ga., and Columbia Mall, Columbia, SC. MS. Lee was featured in Sandy Hill Magazine of the University of South Carolina with her award winning-short story entry in the fiction category for “Who Murdered Jake Riley?” She delighted family and friends with many of her watercolor paintings. She also wrote poetry.
Surviving MS. Lee : one son and daughter –in-law, Matthew Douglas Brewer and Eve Shandale Parrish Brewer of Tiger, GA., one daughter and son-in-law, Karen Leanna Brewer Gonzalez and Salvador Gonzalez- Rangel of Clayton, GA. One brother, Carroll Sanford Lee, Jr. of Clayton, GA. Four grandchildren: William Elijah Brewer, Estella Marie Gonzalez, Joseph Gregory Gonzalez and Roman Isiah Brewer.
Ms. Lee was cremated. No memorial service planned at this time.
