Joyce L. Maples of Clayton, GA died November 21, 2012 after a long battle with cancer. She was born in Habersham County, GA to Dewitt and Violet Eubanks Cheek and lived her growing up years in Rabun County. She has spent most of her adult years in Lavonia, Michigan. She was a graduate of Rabun County High School. She was an LPN (Nurse) and was active in nursing activities. She was actively involved in school activities and sports when her boys were growing up. She was a member of Clayton Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by a son, M. Keith Maples, and is survived by her loving husband of sixty years, Clyde Maples of Clayton. Four sons; Stephen (Susan) of Grayling, MI, Scott (Gail) and Michael (Yvonne) of Lavonia, MI and David Maples of Oak Park, MI. Joyce was the grandmother of ten and the great grandmother of six. She will be greatly missed.
A memorial service will be held Saturday May 25, 2013 at 2:30 PM at the Chapel of Hunter Funeral Home. Layman Lloyd Hunter will conduct the service. Family will receive friends at the Chapel from 1:30 to 2:30 (The Funeral Hour) Saturday, May 25, 2013.
