Joseph Raymond Woodall, 82, Clayton, Ga.


Joseph Raymond Woodall, 82, of Rose Circle, Clayton, left his earthly home January 29, 2010 at Mountain View Nursing Home, after several years of declining health.
Raymond (“J.R.”) was born on April 28, 1927 in Thomaston, Georgia, but most of childhood was in Gainesville, Ga. He was one of nine children by Frederick Morgan Woodall and Della Estelle (Peck) Woodall. He was employed by Georgia Power Company for 42, years, transferring to Clayton in 1954 and never leaving. He was a member of Clayton Baptist Church where he served as a deacon.
Mr. Woodall is survived by high school sweetheart and wife of 63 years, Frances Colleen Alexander; daughter Cathy Corrigan and her husband Mike of Macon; son Steve Woodall, recently returned to Clayton; four grandchildren, Michael and Brian Corrigan of Macon, Emily McCormach of Winterville, and Sarah Bradley of Sykesville, Maryland; six great-grandchildren; four surviving brothers, Eugene Woodall of LaGrange, Ted Woodall and Jerry Woodall of Gainesville, Terry Woodall of Commerce, and one sister, Geraldine Gore of Gainesville.
Preceding him in death was his brother, Angrus Woodall of Gainesville, and two sisters, Leverne Nelson of Orlando, Florida, and Nina Dills of Gainesville.
A memorial service will be held Saturday February 6, 2010 at the Clayton Baptist Church at 11:00 o’clock A.M. conducted by Rev. Joey Thompson and Rev. Sam Letson with a reception / meal immediately following, to which all in attendance are invited.
