John Darrell Hopper, 73, of Pebble Lane Clayton, GA., died Monday June 14, 2010 in North East Georgia Medical Center, Gainesville, GA.
Born in Johns Creek, North Carolina May 6, 1937 he was the son of the late Semer and Margie Mitchell Hopper. He was a farmer and rock mason and for many years was employed at Blue Ridge Lumber Company. He was a member of the Clayton Baptist Church.
Darrell was preceded in death by five brothers, Bill Hopper, Jim Hopper, Andy Hopper, Tom Hopper, and Sam Hopper, and by a sister, Bobbie Stanfield. He is survived by a sister, Leola Hopper Brown of Cullowhee, NC, and several nephews, nieces and cousins. He also leaves behind his loving Church family “The Clayton Baptist Church” and his special beloved friend, his little dog, “General Robert E. Lee” known by most as General Lee.
Funeral Services will be at the Clayton Baptist Church Thursday morning June 17, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. David Rogers officiating. Burial will follow in Roane Cemetery.
The body is at Hunter Funeral Home where friends may view his body and sign the guest book between the hours of 3:00 P.M. and 8:00 P.M. Wednesday June 16, 2010.
The body will be taken to the Clayton Baptist Church Thursday morning June 17, 2010 where family will receive friends from 10:00 A.M TO 11:00 A.M. with services beginning at 11:00 A.M.
The family is at their respective residences.
