John W. Grant 84, Tiger, GA


John W. Grant, 84, of Bridge Creek Road, Tiger, died Tuesday, June 1, 2010 at Mountain Lakes Medical Center.
Born May 13, 1926 in Swain County, North Carolina he was the a son of the late Lawton and Ardella Mashburn Grant. He was a Logger by trade a U.S. Army veteran and was of the Baptist Faith.
Mr. Grant was preceded in death by a daughter, Jeannie Weaver; a brother, Marshall Grant; two sisters, Irene Grant and Midge Cunningham.
Survivors include his companion, Inez Wilbanks of the home; two brothers, Bobby Grant of Wiley, GA and Melvin Grant of Clayton, GA; two sisters, Mary Jo Passmore of Nantahala, NC and Jeanette Passmore of Thomasville, NC. Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
Funeral services will be 11:OO AM Friday, June 4, 2010 in the Chapel of Hunter Funeral Home with the Rev. Steve York and Layman Lloyd Hunter officiating. Burial will follow in Rabun Memory Park.
The body is at Hunter Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 6 PM until 9 PM Thursday, June 3, 2010. The family is at their respective homes.
