Joe Chastain age 63, of Dillard Ga. died Monday night August 25, 2008 in Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville Ga.
Born in Habersham County, Ga. Janurary 21, 1945 , He was the son of Lucy Thomas Chastain and the late Luke Chastain. He was a builder in the construction industry and was a member of the Flats Middle Creek Baptist Church, Scaly Mtn.North Carolina.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Ned Chastain and is survived by his wife Marie Holt Chastain of the home and by his mother Lucy Thomas Chastain of Dillard, Ga. Also survived by two daughters and their husbands Lisa and David Billingsley of Scaly Mtn., North Carolina and Cathy and Benson Gragg of Dillard , Ga.
Four brothers , Calvin Chastain of Clayton ,Ga. Roy Chastain , Mack Chastain and Gary Chastain all of Dillard ,Ga. Three sisters Linda Stewart of Otto , North Carolina . Sue Owens of Dillard,Ga. and Mary Billingsley of Scaly Mtn. North Carolina. Four Grand children Nolan and Chloe Billingsley, Zack and Cali Gragg also survive.
Pallbearers will be Neal Chastain , Jason Owens , Michael Chastain , Jamie Chastain , Matthew Loggins and Steve Hicks .
Funeral services will be at 2:00pm Thursday, August 28,2008 at the Flats Middle Creek Baptist Church in Scaly Mtn.North Carolina, With Rev. Dwight Loggins and Rev. Marty Kilby officicating. Jamie Chastain will officicate at graveside. Burial will be in the church cemetery .
The body is at Hunter Funeral Home where family will receive friends from 7to9 pm Wednesday night August 27,2008.
The body will be placed in the in the church at 1:00pm Thursday to lie in state .
The family asks that in lieu of flowers donations be made to the Flats of Middle Creek Baptist Church building fund in Joe’s Honor, Address is 557 Taylor’s Chapel Rd, Rabun Gap, Ga. 30568.
