Joanne Chappell

Joanne Hembree Chappell, age 78, of Clayton, GA, passed away on March 18, 2025. She was born on May 20, 1946, in Macon County, NC, to the late Arthur and Rheda Hembree. Joanne shared 59 years of marriage with her husband, Gene Chappell. She was a faithful member of Bethel Baptist Church.

In addition to her husband, Gene Chappell, she is survived by one daughter, Becky Lovell (Jeffrey), of Tiger, GA; a great-grandchild, Chase Hembree, of the home; three sisters, Katie Moore of Long Creek, SC, Melinda Matheson of Long Creek, SC, and Carlene Sheffield of Clarkesville, GA; a granddaughter, Tasha Hembree; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 20, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at Bethel Baptist Church, with Rev. Danny Cannon officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. prior to the service at the church. Burial will follow at Rabun Memory Park.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Hospice of Northeast Georgia Medical Center for the exceptional care they took of Ms. Joanne.
