Jessie Leon Jones, 78, of Emerald Lane, Lakemont, Georgia died Tuesday October 11, 2011 at his residence.
Born in Alamo, Tennessee, September 5, 1933 he was the son of the late Governor Odell Jones and Ola Bell Stephenson Jones. He was retired as an automobile mechanic with General Motors he was a US. Army Veteran of the Korean War and was a member of the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW).
He was preceded in death by a granddaughter; Jessica Jones, by a brother, Wilson Jones and by two sisters, Dorothy Saunders and Opal Caedick. He is survived by one son, Jeffrey Jones and his wife Cheryl of Minot, ND., one daughter, Kelly Sanders and her husband, Jerry of Lakemont, GA., five grandchildren, Travis Sanders, Racheal Sanders, Cody Sanders, Jason Jones and Casey Jones also survive.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday October 15, 2011 11:00 A.M. at the Liberty Baptist Church with Rev. Todd Erlewiwe officiating. Burial will be in the Liberty Cemetery with military honors.
The body is at Hunter Funeral Home. The family is at the home on Emerald Lane, Lakemont, GA.
